I assume you switched the wipers to off position from auto? Make sure there is nothing on the windscreen sensor, by cleaning the windscreen. The following are from the owner manual.

Hi Conrad c thanks for your reply.The next day wipers worked fine could have been dirt will clean manually if happens next time .The car has a charging fault, it stops charging after five miles put lights on and it will charge at a lower rate of 13.5 volts (ecu sensig load).New alternator did not cure fault any ideas vault meter fitted to monitor charge.Main dealer waste of time auto electrician sed change ecu keys clocks.
