power steering gone

Hi folks, looking for some advice please.

I had my toyota auris 2007 1.6 petrol t spirit (50K) steering go hard one morning with dash warning

It was working fine the night before, however it did stall.

I had a dodgy Battery so replaced it with a Bosch, cleaned lead connections and to body and after reading here of other folks issues

disconnected Battery, stripped dash and unplugged ecu for 2 hours.

No joy....

Tested alternator and it's pushing 14.2 v with lights etc on.

Any suggestions are very appreciated as a bit skint and would need to fix this myself

Thanks in advance

You unplugged the steering module, or the ECU?

You tried some code reader? Even the cheap ones should tell you some code, to help distinguish if the issue is with the power steering assembly, or the module.

I had similar experience, and replaced the module with a used one, still working. However, i did identify the issue first, with diagnostic.

Here's my topic related to it

Hi Furtula , thanks for the reply. I couldn't get a reading using phone and Torque app, which has served me well, it said failed so i've bought a used ecu as it could not communicate with one in car. I will try this and if it's still not working i'll borrow a reader from somewhere or buy one. I let you know how it goes.

Thanks

Geo
