Wet around injector bay

Is this normal?

Not sure if they are weeping or its a mess left from oil spill. 

Would it be safe to spay some engine degreaser to clean it up or maybe mixture of washing up liquid and water in a spray bottle?

Clean it out first, see if it comes back.

If it is fuel, its smell should give it away. Also when engine warms up, fuel should evaporate. You can also check for leaking when engine runs.

Thanks guys, will start with cleaning, there are a few bugs and flies in there, then monitor

I've cleaned as best I could without removing anything or damaging.
