Avensis 2012 multiple warning lights

Hi team, just bought a second hand 2012 Avensis. Within a day the check engine, traction control and brake system warning lights came on together. Dealership and their garage have suggested that it's likely to be an issue with it being a Japanese import and having not been driven in a while. Thoughts?

What engine is in the car? Being a Japanese import should be a factor since all Avensis were built in Burnaston, Derbyshire UK. The 'not being driven in a while' could be plausible, but the dealer could clear the warnings via diagnostic. Did you buy the car from that dealer, another dealer or privately? If from a dealer, you could has some form of warranty, depending on your country's laws. If private, then you have less comeback with the seller, especially if sold as seen!
Does the car start okay, except for the warning lights? As I mentioned above, a diagnostic check will confirm the faults and try to clear the faults. Any codes stored will help. Then you go from there.

That code p400 which means your air recurrlation is blocked etc egr valve needs a clean up to get rid of fault or else disconnect your Battery for 10 mins and fault will clear but it will return its fault on avensis d4d

I was initially puzzled, because the OP has not said what his engine is nor stated a fault code! But your experience on reading the symptoms tells you the EGR must be the culprit. Le'ts see if the OP gives further info.

good evening, did you get it sorted, I have a 2014 avensis 4d4 with all warning lights on,we put them all out 1 mile on the road all back on ? Keith
