Having recently relocated outside of the city, and started driving in the night here and there, i noticed the lights are not that bright at all.

Even when i'm alone on the road, i find them pretty weak, and in the rain pretty much useless.

Any moment i can, i switch to long beams, which are halogen, which are crazy bright, when compared to dull white d4s bulbs.

I doubt that's how they should be, so i'm looking into advise, should i get another pair, or is that the best that i can expect?

The bulbs will burn out over time slowly degrading, Phillips quote their standard D4s bulbs at 2500 hours others quote up to 5000 but that all depends on the power and heat cycles  that's without environmental variables on top

like everything bulb technology has move on in the last 10 years

I had the car for 3 years and never changed the bulb. I dont know if it was ever changed, i got the original service info from when the car was in Germany, but it was not that detailed.

The lights just look poor imho. I want to replace them, but cant really compare to new ones, to see if they will be better, maybe it's just how it is.

Was thinking of measuring the lumens, might give me rough idea about their health.
