Help needed Finding turbo for tsport 1.5

So I have a yaris tsport 2002 (1nz-fe) with aftermarket ecu from maxxecu (awesome kit).

I have also fitted a log manifold design off of eBay (with T25 turbo flange)

I wanted to fit a nice small turbo off a peugeot 1.4 hdi that I have, but different flange and wouldn't fit 😕

So have to find something proportionally small, that could fit behind engine bay, with the log turbo manifold design.

My main priority is cheap, yes eBay turbo's don't bother me (aiming for 150hp). Actually one I found here seems cool, just unsure if size is okay (seems good in my eyes) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222739351667

I would much appreciate someone's help, that has used this manifold, or knows any good small T25 turbo's.

A hybrid T25 will work nicely don't bother with Chinese junk, A Garrett GT2554 would suit the boost will come in lower down the rev range unless you go up to a T28

the problem with turbo from modern diesels is they are typically hi pressure (circa 16 psi)

Much appreciate buddy, saved me a lot of time and frustration lol.

Also as for the intercooler, I have 2 options: buy one from yaris d4d 1.4 or one from audi a6 2003. For this kind of power, would it be sensible to add one from d4d?

Will also be porting a rad from d4d to my tsport.

  • 1 month later...

So.. little update of having the whole t25 turbo in. Not going as planned 🥶 turbo leaking quite badly from exhaust side.  Waterlines installed (running off throttle body) checked for leaks, oil sandwich fitted (2 holes; oil in & oil out) on the oil outlet I have made sure of 1mm hole for appropriate oil feed. Used an10 fittings with braided cables (no leaks). Tested without wastegate installed (planned to run at 0.5 bar boost).

The way sandwich plate is positioned makes me think it might be the cause for oil leak.. since it isn't far apart from drain, if not level with drain. Might be wrong but before I decide to drill oil drain into oil pan I'd like to see if someone has some sort of solution for me.. it really hurts taking turbo off couple times and trying garrets setup of 20° to the ground for better watercooling (switched back to standard straight to ground oil drain).

I'd appreciate help, I have attached video of how its setup.

you need a free flowing drain, if you are using a sandwich plate they are typically not flow and return so you're basically flooding the turbo with oil pushing oil up the return from the turbo

tbh you need a better oil feed than from a sandwich plate imho - usually tee'd off the oil pressure switch under the intake manifold a 4 or 5An is all what is needed for the turbo feed and a 10an on the return

have a read of the threads on yarisworld forum there are a lot more cars with turbo conversion in the USA (forum is very quite these days tho so done expect an influx of replies)

Get a T-piece on the factory oil pressure sensor and run the oil feed from that, that's also how it's done originally.
You want a free flowing drain, by tapping the block.
