Hi,

-turn the heater control knop to hot (red).

-screw off the radiator cap, then open the lid on the plastic reservoir (don't do this when the engine is still hot!).

-first undo the plug at the radiator (bottom left hand side), let coolant drain, then the plug on the engine block (near the flywheel on the front for SZ engines, between the intake manifold for NZ engines), let coolant drain.

-flush radiator with clean water.

-put both plugs back on (13 Nm).

-fill up radiator and reservoir to full mark, slowly. (use ethylene-glycol based coolant, prefferably Toyota red coolant).

-put radiator cap back on.

-start engine, check for leaks and if necessary add coolant trough the plastic reservoir.

-enjoy JAE. :D

Cheers, Yves.

In my car it’s recommended to change the engine coolant at 100,000 miles!... That’s right one hundred thousand!

How can that be right?
