Yaris wheels spinning

Hi everyone

been having an issue with my Yaris for a while now where when you start up the car and start driving anytime you hit the accelerator the front wheels spin.

not ideal in a family car on the school run as I’m sure you can imagine!

I thought until recently it might be true related but I’ve had all four replaced with new tyres and it’s still doing it. It sorts itself after about 15 mins of solid driving but it’s very frustrating and I feel like I’m missing something obvious. Any ideas?

Is this a manual or an automatic? If it's manual, does it seem like the clutch judders and that's why your wheels spin?

Apologies, would’ve helped to confirm that it’s an automatic really!

the not pressing the accelerator so hard is t really the issue. It’s even if you tap the accelerator

Check the date stamp on the tyres, what make are they ? If they are over 5-7 years or older they may have "gone off" especially if they are cheap Chinese tat

or they are just bald and need replacing

The tyres are literally brand new. We had the problem with the wheels spinning for a long time and decided it might be the tyres.

had them changed to brand new tyres and it’s still doing the same thing

What make are they, how many miles have you put on them ? Any motorway miles ? New tyres will need a few heat cycles to bed in (not just popping to the shops)

Do the tyres "chirp" or "screech" when turning at speed ? eg. around a large roundabout

Do you get tyre squeal when you get this 'spinning'? If not I suspect it's not wheel spinning, but something else in the transmission slipping.

2008 auto makes it an MMT (automated manual) i would get the gearbox calibrated (relearn) and also check the clutch fluid, it maybe the ecu is bringing the clutch in too early

i assume your driving it like an auto with one foot and not power braking it using both feet (one on the brake and one on the throttle)

Is there clutch fluid? It's operated electrically.

I've owned one of these things and there was definitely no hint of any fluid for the clutch or checking level.

Sounds like there might be something wrong with the stability/abs module. I think the best thing to do is to let it get checked at a Toyota dealer, I doubt that a 3rd party dealer will figure this out easily without putting many hours in studying the vehicle.
