Insurance Premium increase on Toyota?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if anyone has recently dealt with this issue as i have. I currently have Statefarm as my insurance provider, and last month I received a notification that my premium will go up because my 2019 Toyota Camry is being moved up to another insurance class. Has anyone have this happen to you too?

When I called a representative told me that there are a lot of Toyota's on the road and thus the number of accidents are larger than other car manufacturers. Seems like the easiest and most stupid reason to hike up rates.

Always shop around at renewal time. I allways do the compare the market thingy on the internet (there is many of them). Suprising how much difference between the lower riced ins companies and the (very) higher ones.  Just make sure what they quoting for is the same for all.  Suprisingly over the last 5 8 years or so its the same company thats best price for me (LV) but internet prices for LV are always lower then the written quote they posted to me.  So if you dont want ot do a search, and you want to stay where you are talk to them...... if they think they losing you they will come down in price.

In the UK, Thatcham Research issues guidance on insurance groups and what insurance group specific cars should be in.

However, this is guidance only, and individual insurers may decide to put cars into different groups. So the fact that Statefarm may have changed their insurance group for the Camry, won't necessarily be reflected by other insurers.

Shop around.
