Total odometer that doesn't count

Hello everyone, for about 2 months I have my car, Toyota Avensis I sedan (T22) 1.6 VVT-I (ZZT220_) 81 KW 10.2000, that no longer counts the total KM (the partial ones yes), the KM display flashes when turned on, the instrumentation hands ***** and after a few seconds they return to normal. When the car starts to walk the instrumentation hands go intermittently, the total KM does not advance but the partial ones do even if they flash. As soon as the machine is stopped, the instrumentation returns to normal but the total KM remains fixed at the initial value. Do you think it is a problem with the panel or some sensor? The Battery was changed 3 months ago. Thank you.

Thank you. Where is this sensor located? Is there the possibility to remove temporary, for example, the fuse connected to the sensor and see if the defect remains? Many thanks.

The sensor is located in the gearbox. It has a three-pin connector and retained by one bolt. Aftermarket sensors are available cheaply (try eBay) or get a secondhand one. Very easy to replace.
