Automatic brake start up.

Hi guys.I have a 2010 automatic 2.2 d4d. Wife went to start it this afternoon going through the usual, foot on the brake then start up. She said the brake pedal which is usually hard went to the floor. She tried a few times then it started. Worrying incase she had no brakes she drove home very slowly and all was well. Now im worrying incase this happens again when driving and the pedal goes to the floor at a junction or some thing. Any ideas ? Thank you in advance.
