T27 stuttering when accelerating

Hello to all.

The subject is a 12-reg T27 with a 2ltr diesel and manual transmission.

Yesterday when pulling away from a junction the car has violently stuttered a single time and with window down I could hear a short, loud hiss-like noise outside. It happened after gear change from 1st to 2nd gear. The noise was far more audible outside than inside the car. There were no warnings nor messages on dashboard. The whole thing happened so rapidly I didn't even manage to take my foot off the accelerator. After the incident the car just continued to accelerate as normal and continued to drive as usual for the rest of the day. There was no difference in car performance nor any odd noises when starting/stopping the engine. This is the first incident of this kind in 3 years I own the car. It is being serviced regularly and has only just passed an MOT last Friday without any advisories. What happened there?

Plug in diagnostics to see if a fault appears on the gadget sounds like maybe egr valve could be starting to play up
