Clearing airbag Error code on 2002 Yaris

I need to get the airbag error code cleared on my Toyota Yaris. I have tried unplugging the Battery and no joy.
I had a recall in the summer to change the front passenger airbag and shortly after the light started flashing. I phoned the dealer but they just want to charge loads of money, surprise surprise not! I just want a cheap possibly free way of clearing the code.

If it keeps coming back after its cleared, its a hard code you have 2 options send the airbag ecu off (£30-60 plus shipping both ways) to be reset or replace the ecu for a new or used item has to be the same part number and id as the one in the car

When you say airbag ECU do you mean a separate unit to the main ECU?

yes the airbag system has its own ecu what lives under the dash (on the floor) forward of the centre console

Thanks, could I do anything with it myself to reset the system?

Try and reset it with a code reader is it doesn't reset after a few tries, it has a hard code that require specialist knowledge to reset - not 100% but it usually involves wiping a chip or reprogramming the chip directly on the circuit board

Assuming that it's not an actual fault, i take it you have read the code(s) ?

Not yet I havent tried my Carista its only just arrived today. I think I will do it tomorrow though as I have done myself an injury. I will report the code on here before I wipe anything off.
Im assuming that the system didnt like the swap out that the dealer did when they replaced it.

OK I plugged the Carista in and it cant see the airbag code fault, it did tell me that there was a low power issue though.
