A cricket in the footwell

Good time of the day to Everyone,

Has anyone experienced this type of rattle in their bug? Its coming from the passenger footwell, I assume.

2013 1.0 IQ manual trans, EU edition

the car is in pristine condition, sole owner

Couple of facts, as I’ve already spent some time playing with it

- appears only above 80kmh / 50mph, obviously the vehicle moving only straight ahead

- no sounds during slow speed turns, not even in max tight turns

- disappears when tailgating at speed a large vehicle eg. a large lorry or a bus

- is most present when driving alone, when there is a heavy passenger in the right seat it disappears

- it kind of seems to be coming from the front of the car, right hand side

what has been done so far

- raised the car and spun the wheels with the engine running, nothing

- checked the half axles and cv joints, checked the front wheel hub (right side) no signs of play or wearout, no weird sounds

- pushed in all retaining pins underneath the vehicle I could put my eyes on

- checked the exhaust heat shield

- run the car on the road with engine off, ac off, in neutral the rattle is still there,

- found a 5” x 5” plastic black plate behind the front lower grille, right next to the driver’s fog light, it seemed kind of flappy, but still well attached, immobilized it with some sponge, the rattle persists, although is much more quiet

- immobilized the airbox inlet tube, it had some play too

Could it be a dead hub bearing? The noise being so regular, like a bearing missing some balls/cylinders

Could anyone pls check the lower grille of your Iq for that funny black flap there and let me know, if you have it too?

the footage from before I’ve put in the foam behind the flap
