ECU problem info

Extracted from 'Car Mechanics' magazine June 2016.

ECU-Testing are a fairly well established business who, unsurprisingly, test and repair ECUs and other electronic componentry.

Haven't needed to use them myself , but they are frequently mentioned in the above mag.

RAV4 is the only Toyota on their list.

I used ECU testing after buying my wife a 2001 auto rav4 and it constantly "hesitating" at  junctions. Pretty scary I must say. It seemed like it couldn't decide which gear it should be in. I sent the ECU to ECU testing and the problem was immediately solved. It never happened again in the four years she had it. It was a common fault with the autos apparently. Recalled in the US but not here
