16inch wheel and tyre setup on Mk 2 Aygo 2019 MY

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently bought an Aygo 2019 model, 1.0.  I have the original steel wheels with winter tyres on them with 165/55/15 all round.

I wanted to buy another set of wheels, so I don't have to keep changing the tyres off the rims when I go back to summer tyres.  I found these, they are an inch bigger than standard and the website says they will fit.  My question is, has anyone tried this setup with 195 tyres, will the tyres look over stretched on this alloy ?  I don't want them sticking out of the bodywork, as flush as possible would be good.

If anyone could share their experiences, or show any photos, that would be great, thank you.

Do you really want to spend almost 1000euro on wheels and tyres ? Also bigger wheels mean that there is less room for sidewall, so the ride will feel more bumpy

Using the link would suggest the wheels would come with 195/45 R16 tyres, if so these would be too big and affect the Speedo accuracy beyond what is legally allowed, you would need 205/40 R16 tyres to keep the rolling radius within reg's and fit the 8" wheel width.

In Summer I ran my Mk1 C1 on 16" rims with 195/40 x16 wheels, the lower profile definitely made for a harsher ride.

To avoid changing between winter and summer tyres, I ended up using all season tyres instead, impressive in snow.

Thanks for this info, I will give them a call to discuss.  Although I was a little worried going from 55 sidewall to 45, now you are saying 40..?  I can see the ride will loose much of its plushness in everyday driving but will probably make up for it in better cornering feel and more grip.

It will end up being more like 650euros.   I'm buying them for the looks really and ease of having to change winter/summer tyres.  I love the deep dish look of those JR12's, although now a little worried about the 40 section tyre !

Actually, you're right, with 205/40 tyres, the price for the package goes up by quite a lot.

The easiest solution to what you want to do is get all season tyres.

And best to check with your insurance company that doing this ok.  I've read stories of insurance companies not paying out because someone has put the wrong sized wheels on their car or even just the wrong sized tyres.
