Parking brake

Is it possible to leave my car in the garage with the parking brake off. I thought I could power off and leave the selector in "N" but when you try to leave the car its chiming away telling you to leave it in the park position.

I thought you might be able to leave it in park and then release the parking brake manually like I could do in my wife's Audi. But I haven't been able to yet. I assume its just me. Looked at the hand book and didn't find it.

Thanks

Try page 438:

When the parking brake is in automatic mode, release the parking brake after shifting the shift lever to P. (P.317)

Page 317:

Parking brake
The parking brake can be set or released automatically or manually. In automatic mode, the parking brake can be set or released automatically according to shift lever operation. Also, even in automatic mode, the parking brake can be set or released manually.

etc. ...
