Hi all, I’m intrigued by the MyT app which gives information on car location, trips, and rapid acceleration or hard braking points.

Does this app use a connected bluetooth ’phone for location and data transfer, or does the vehicle have a GPS system (it doesn’t have a SatNav installed) and some sort of GSM modem for data transfer to a cloud?

The app will use your phones gps and accelerator data, some stereos do have gps but that depends on the model

Is your Aygo a red 70 plate from Jemca

I’m not convinced the data comes from a bluetooth connected device as I’ve now tried driving without a phone connected and the journey is still registered.  The stereo is the standard 7” touchscreen multimedia system, and high has been updated since my previous ‘18 model.

Mine’s a JBL Edition Aygo (see profile pic) and not from Jemca.

Latest Aygo of which a JBL edition would be one are now fitted with a Telematics units ( located under the dash below the windscreen on LHS for a RHD car ) when configured and registered to a MYT account it reports back the required information via its own mobile data connection.

My X-Cite Car Play now has audible Speed Cameras alerted by Siri which is superb as Apple Maps are the best Navigation System in my opinion.

Cannot wait for my NX to get the Up-Grade promised later this month.

Last Thursday, X-Cite had no such facility & my iPhone was up-Dated to iOS 14 3 weeks ago.

I simply do not understand.

Our 2 iPhones are on Auto Up-Date to IOS 14.1 so that may be the answer.

That explains it, if there’s a gps/gsm module in the car it can gather and upload data regardless of a bluetooth connection. Clever, if a little scary in a big-brother way.  I guess it could be used as a tracker in cases of theft too!

I’m interested in Apple Maps navigation, I’ve always used Google Maps in the UK as it seemed better/more accurate than Apple’s offering.  Maybe I should give Apple a try.  Is there anything which needs to be enabled/selected to give speed camera warnings, or do they default to on?
