Dear members, fans and technical specialists,

I have a Toyota Auris which is a 2013 with c.23800 on the clock and pretty much in immaculate condition however recently have noticed a strange noise coming from the engine on cold startup and when idling.

Attached is an attempt to capture this sound (please put vol up). Car is under warranty and Toyota dealership local have come back with nothing wrong with the car.

I'm I hearing things!?

Would greatly appreciate your support! P.S I am new to the forum!

Sounds like the a/c pump/pulley, a mechanics stethoscope should pinpoint it, i wouldn't be to worried about it

My guess would be the coolant flushed out all the grease in the water pump bearings.

Put a piece of cardboard under the engine overnight, see if there is anything dripping from the water pump, or if there is any oxidation on the pump itself.

Check coolant levels.

I had the same noise. The bearing from the water pump failed. Replaced the water pump and it's silent again :D
