Hi,

I am a new member here.  I undertake most repairs on my cars and have done for many years.  I served a 5 year technical apprenticeship with the British Motor Corporation (BMC) which later became British Leyland (after I left) and then just Rover.  At the time I was working there they had just introduced the then new Austin Mini and the parallel Morris Mini Minor later they dropped the Badge names and they both became just 'the Mini'.  The Triumph Stag was also being developed while I was there as well as several other quite revolutionary models.  Problem was the build quality was poor - as it was in most of the mass market cars in those days, you were lucky if one laste 5 years without turning to rust.  Oh for the good old days which according to some, were so much better.  Personally I don't think so, i quite conent with life now even with pandemic viruses.

To come to the point my wife has a relatively low mileage 2008 Auris which she loves.  We bought it from her mother who in turn bought it new so we know it's history.  However it is now beginning to need a bit more tlc to keep it happy so I joined here in hope of some advice as I'n not familiar with the all of the mechanical aspects of the particul;ar car

Thanks for reading I hope that you didn't fall asleep with boredom!!
