Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anybody can guide me on changing the rear brake pads on a 2016 Avensis. I have been doing some research on the Internet and some people have used software to adjust the calliper after replacing the pads and some have not. So my question is do you HAVE to use the software or not?

Many thanks in advance,

Misba.

You don't need to and from making the mistake of using the wrong software, you could get into deep trouble! I know from experience, and another poster has done the same. In both cases, the zero point calibrations were deleted causing fault codes C1336 and C1346, with warnings and cautions on the display. Also the auto function is disabled!

Read the owners manual on setting the parking brake in service mode, to stop the brakes engaging! image.thumb.png.307667e493c3c81cb22b95b75258318d.png

You need 13mm spanners and this brake piston pushback left and right handed tool kit - 20200720_225822.thumb.jpg.f2464c853b70fa773b961612d6761d19.jpg

I notice you ask a question in another, and answered that. The Avensis rear brakes are actually one of the easiest, and I have done other cars like my brothers Renault Grand Scenic (expensive rear disc/bearing combo) and Corsa VRX for a friend. My Avensis is straight forward.

In the post you looked at earlier, read my posts carefully, especially regarding the piston aligned properly during the wind back process.
