Aygo power steering light coming on

Hello! I’m a new driver and I own a 2006 aygo in diesel. My power steering light has started to come whenever I start the car, steering becomes very heavy. I have to wait a couple of mins before the light turns off then drive. Why does this happen? Anyone know what I am supposed to do, does it need to be sent to a garage? Also is it safe to drive is the light comes on when starting the car?

More than likely the Battery is dying once the car is running the Battery will start to charge, most places offer a Battery test free of charge

The Aygo has electrical power steering
