Corolla Touring Sports Internal Dimensions

Hi guys,

I’m after a favour from any Corolla Touring Sports owners (non pan roof).

I’m after the dimensions from the base of the rear seat to the roof at the angle of someone sitting in the seat (just like in the attached pic)

I found the pan roof version a bit tight on headroom, but wanted to put my mind at rest that the ‘normal roof’ would be fine.

 Thanks,

Graeme

Thanks Frosty, I’ve seen that, but it doesn’t have the dimension I’m after. Frustrating that VW, Skoda etc all display these dimensions but Toyota don’t

I make it exactly 95 cm. in mine.

Many thanks Geoff. How do you find the interior space in general? It looks quite wide, but not blessed with much headroom - does it feel spacious?

I'm 5'10 so height is no problem. The driver's seat is height adjustable and I've chosen to set mine quite high but still lots of headroom. Headroom is less for the centre back seat (which is also a bit uncomfortable) but that's true of most cars. Leg room is fine for me in front and back. Boot space is good - the main area is supplemented by a reasonable space behind each wheel on the 1.8. This space is only available on the nearside in the 2.0 - the offside is enclosed and houses the low voltage Battery. There is also a box running the full width of the car at the front of the load area and quite a lot of room above the space-saver rear wheel beneath the boot floor. One surprise was to find that the car (Icon Tech trim) came with a really solid cargo net that can be used with the rear seats up or down if you want to safely load it up to the roof.

Thanks Geoff that’s reassuring to hear. I know the interior is quite dark, but with plenty of space it should be fine

Saloon offers white headlining as standard and has a lot more space for rear passengers plus huge boot compared to hatchback, its big as the estate one , only the height of the boot is slightly lower because of the shape. Rear seats also folds down for carrying long items, it’s a real dilemma for me between both saloon and estate. In general the saloon feels bigger than all three shapes imo, perhaps because of the brighter interior.

I’ve not managed to sit in a saloon, but looking at the dimensions it’s quite spacious. I’d have really liked the TS to have light headlining, but it’s the way many manufacturers are going now for the ‘sporty’ look of black headlining, my old Golf R had black headlining, and it never bothered me much either way. Good at hiding stains I guess.

In a large cabin with enough headroom and legroom darker rooflines may not be as claustrophobic as in a smaller car like Corolla hatchback, why Toyota went that way is beyond me, Auris gen 1 is the roomier car in its class on the back seats, leg room is a lot in comparison with next gen Auris or Corolla. Btw there is one beautiful option for TS Corolla that it’s on my list and I am currently looking at it’s the Trek Touring Sport, it’s 2 cm higher, it’s got brighter Vegan interior and all the toys from Design ans excell specs, there are not that popular and there are really good deal for pre owned ones, good savings. Something like this car, ok dark headlining but seats make it up.

The Trek is slightly higher due to the increased suspension height. I agree though the lighter seats will improve the cabin brightness. I do think the ‘design’ spec will be lighter than the excel as the cloth aren’t as dark as the leather.

After a quick google, it looks like rear headroom on the Mk1 Auris (which I also own at the moment) is slightly less than the dimension Geoff provided earlier (950mm vs 930mm).

I prefer the lighter head liner like my mk2 Auris.

Not sat in a TS corolla yet. Only hatchback. Not seen the Saloon at all. The only thing I'm not keen on the trek is the plastic wheel arch trims! Prefer the wheel arches left in colour. Rest like a bodykit.

Trek or Excel with panoramic roof would be nice!

Toyota dealer had corolla hatch and new Yaris and Rav 4 in showroom..
