Fensport do reconditioned ones i think. i think it might be one of those things where you can get it a bit cheaper if you let them hgave your old calipers.

tell me more about the car, anyway...looks in pretty good nick

they only seem to do the front calipers not the rear by the looks of the web site, think i will ring them tomo to check. my car: never knew anything about these cars untill i blew my old car up and needed a cheap run about to get to work and back, got this for £350 with full years mot off a mate that sells cars alot and had this as a part ex. i just thought it was going to be a normal e reg car that got me about a while untill i sorted out some thing good, but was i wrong this is one under stated car! revs to about 7800rpm from what i can tell and goes like stink! its all standered apart from a k&n air fillter. i've had lots of fast cars but this one is so much fun and sounds great.

Sweet car m8! The last time i checked(cuz i work for toyota!) the price of a rear caliper it was about £300 each! If your good with ur spanners you can buy a seal kit for the calipers and strip them down yourself and de-seize and re-seal! About £40 for seal kit!

Ive done that with most of my calipers and they work spot on now! Just right for some handbrake action! LOL

Most Decent motor factors places do recon brake parts.

These are usually on a 'new for old ' basis. There is a small surcharge on the reconditioned unit (usually about £20.00 or so) which is refunded when you give them your old one back.

Was quoted about 300 ish for a rear caliper for my Audi by VW Audi. Got a recon locally for £65.00. Result !

The bulk of the caliper will never fail, it's just seals and corrosion that cause the problems. Getting reconditioned ones is much cheaper than new and just as good. (and it's recycling, so you're doing your bit for the planet.)

i had my front rebuilt by fensport 190 pounds the pair a lot of money but they came back as new

Well as you split the dust seal you might as well strip the caliper right down and see what the problem is!

Dont forget you have to position the piston in one position and one postion only to fit over the pads! Line the groove up on the face of the piston to the pin on the back of the pad!

But i cant understand why the piston just keeps on spinning!

Hiyup mate and welcome to the forum B) Nice looking car :)

I was about to tell you to twist the piston into the calliper housing, but then I re-read your post :!Removed!:

:D

When I had calliper problems with my MR2 I initially looked into parts directly from Toyota, but like you found them too expensive :ffs: So I took my querie to Fensport and they will be able to supply you with a reconditioned calliper and a lot less money. You will need to pay the full price upfront, but when they receive your knackered calliper, they will refund the difference.

Or do what I did and get the car down to a Quickfit or similar and let them sort it out. It costs less than Toyota and Fensport, is a genuine reconditioned part that comes with warranty

Seeing as they are the back callipers - it's really not worth buying brand new parts as the fronts do most of the work ;)

Hope this lot helps
