Toyota Avensis T25 - No airflow anywhere, blower is ok, pollen filter ok

Hi,

On my 2007 Toyota Avensis d4d 2.0. found out a puzzling problem (at least for me). It has an automatic climate control.

Blower blew up, and I replaced it.

But while testing the new blower I figured out that air does not come out from the vents (only a small amount, like running with low speed - even though blower is running at max RPM).

Switching the direction of the airflow from the console, seems to move the actuators (atleast one visible one), but the airflow from the vents is extremely poor.

I feel it might be a blockage somewhere, or a hole, or stuck actuator. But ... where.

Would not care less to actually dismantle half of the car 🙂

To close this case from here, if someone stumbles in the same issue.

The replacement blower which was sold to me as a correct replacement was wrong. Fit was correct, function was correct but fan blades and engine rotation was incorrect.

TL;DR centrifugical fan does not work well when fan works the wrong way.

LHD and RHD motors are different as they are on opposite sides of the car, so having the rotation reversed makes sense

This is new info to me. It is important to check the replacement part, part number, where the part is sourced from, and the car!

This reminds me of the Mk1 Avensis cabin filter. They are left or right handed for different markets. Trouble is that places like Euro Car Parts sell the cheaper left-hand version, whilst the Toyota dealers sell the correct right-hand version. Not a problem with Mk2 and Mk3, but the fan and motor is the new issue.

There is always something new to learn - Opel Kedett (D) uses a completely different braking setup from the mk1 Astra, E11 Nissan note uses the rear door locks on the front doors, the child lock pins come loose and cause the buzz of death or deadlock the doors, mk1 focus uses 4 different brake setups from different manufactures depending on the year and month
