i *think* you can actually adjust the free pedal play in the clutch, you can basically move the bite point further down, there is a ratchet screw behind the pedal so have a look at that, the only other thing i can think of is the seals may be passing or when they refitted it, they actually moved the slave cylinder very slightly, it doesn't take much movement to cause a severe increase in pedal travel.

Hello, 1st post here...
Is there a diagram or info how i adjust this screw? Many thanks

Also, I just bought 2005 corolla t3 for my son to learn to drive in. I tested the clutch before buying, handbrake on, put in third gear, lift the clutch and car stalls.

But I do have a very high bite point and notice if i do the third gear clutch test but very very slowly lift the clutch, as it reaches the bite point, the revs start to dip, then suddenly the revs shoot up to around 1400....(without me or anyone touching acc pedal)! Keep slowly lifting the clutch, revs drop again.....then again revs shoot up to around 1000 on their own! This goes on and on until eventually it stalls.

What would cause it to do this?

@tazzer10

These diagrams should help with clutch pedal adjustment.

However a high biting point, heavy clutch pedal and slipping clutch , as you seem to describe ?   all indicate the clutch is well worn.

Your Toyota dealer or most garages will be able to fit a new clutch, but prices vary considerably , so check around.

It is also a diy job if you are handy with auto maintenance, but beware of cheap clone clutch kits.
