Is it normal to top up oil for the Toyota IQ 1.0 Engine?

Even a couple of months after service?

Car works perfectly, oil pressure light never comes one.

Oil level goes a quarter down between half and full mark.

A lot depends on how many miles you are covering and while ideally no noticeable oil consumption should occur, in practice it can happen. The handbook almost certainly gives an industry accepted figure of 1L per 1000km which tbh would be very excessive.

Some Toyota engines do have oil consumption issues, my 1.33L Auris has got through 3.5L or so since March but I've also done around 7000 miles. And it is a known and documented issue on the 1.33L engine.

Also a 'quarter down between half and full' is only a drop of 12.5% although I suspect you mean it is on the three quarter mark between max and minimum and so 25% down.

Some Toyota’s I’ve owned used a little oil, usually half a liter between oil changes. Old mechanics used to say an engine that uses a little oil will run forever. But I certainly wouldn’t be happy if it was using 1ltr every 1000 miles.

My iQ 1.0 has not required topping up between annual services in 10 years of ownership. However, as this is a second car, it only covers 2500 miles per year !!

My iQ2 1.0 didn’t use any oil in between services in the 5.5 years I owned it.

If you are over filling it, it might use some [emoji848]
