replacement gearbox for a 1992 1.3 EE101R

Hello,

Thank you for accepting me into the forum and although I have followed from a distance this is my first post, unfortunately its a request for information and help regarding replacing my gearbox

So I am looking for a replacement gearbox on my 1992 1.3 Corolla EE101R JT164 with a 4E-FE engine.

Finding an identical gearbox has been without success so far. So, am I able to use a gearbox from a later model Corolla as a direct replacement, for example the EE112R JT172 with a 3ZZFE engine which I presently have an option of.

Any help or suggestions in this respect greatly received
