Has anyone considered applying this to ‘key’ stone chip areas of the car? Bumper, bonnet, front corners (to reduce damage from minor scuffs), boot loading area etc.

Are there any easy solutions?

Independents seem to charge from £400 just for the front bumper up to well over £1000-2000 for fuller kits, which isn’t economical at all.

My friend has a car with some small strips applied here and there eg to rear wheel arches, which was cheap and provided at least some protection.

Thank you!

ps great forum, helpful people!

To be honest, if it cost £400 just for the front bumper it must be more cost effective to have stone chips repaired cheaper than that. I have seen some of this protection film stuff on vehicles and it looks horrid. I'd rather pay to have the odd stone chip, scratch etc repaired or do it myself. A full kit for £1000-2000 is just crazy and that won't protect the vehicle from a small dent anyway.

All these foil wraps and “protection “ are only money thrown in the bin, the paint is for that job to protect the bodywork from anything, why would you protect the protection?! 1-2k money will repaint the whole car if necessary. Something small that can be applied by hand from any owner in specific areas that are vulnerable to road grime ok, can accept but full wrapped car is no need except for its look, if this is what people are after. This foil while may add little protection also adds a lots of liability, to keep it in shape and replace it at regular basis because it will get damage and it will look so ugly. Regular car wash and once in a while hand polishing will keep your new motor new for a very long time. 👍
