Battery/BCM issue?

Hi all,

Have some strange things happening to my beloved 2012 IQ.

When I bought the car, year and a half ago, I noticed that when I did not use the car for about 2 weeks, the Battery would be empty. 2 weeks is not that long but Ok, didn't think much of it, replaced the Battery with a Bosch.

Now I notice that every couple of weeks or so, randomly, the alarm goes off. As I understand it, this is a warning that the Battery voltage is going down. Measuring the battery it gives a healthy 12V and charges at 14V. When the car is off, it draws about 12milli-amps. Whenever this happens, it starts without any problem.

Last time this happened, I went to the car and found that the headlights were on. Today I got out of the car and was talking to the neighbour. Ater a couple of minutes the headlights turned on by themself.

Would this be a battery fault? It is not an original, it is a Bosch, but it seems to hold its power. Would it be something in the Body Control Module? I will have a look at at the part number this weekend and see if I can source a different one. As I understand it, these do not need to be programmed to the car, right?

Has anyone heard anything remotely similar to my problem?

Cheers!

Hi , Cant be of much help but The Battery brand wont matter and it doesn't need to be programmed to the car.

Do you have auto headlights? if so maybe leave this setting off to see if it helps, Maybe the light stalk is faulty bringing the lights on randomly. maybe give it a wiggle/tap with the ignition off and see what happens.

Could be a number of things i guess.

Good luck with it.
