Corolla 1.8 Hybrid vs Civic & Golf *DRAG RACE*

Hi All,

This may not be of much interest to many of you, however Carwow have recently done a drag race with the 1.8 Hybrid hatch against its main rivals - Civic 1.0 turbo, and Golf. They use the 1.5 TSI golf, whereas I’d suggest the 1.0 TSI is a more suitable rival.

Just watched earlier, a funny video I liked a lot. Yeah, the golf is more powerful by a lot and normal to be faster, the Corolla is the best of all IMO. , engine size doesn’t matter, what matters is torque and horsepower when we race. 2.0 hybrid and 1.5 civic sounds better opponents.

It’s the wrong golf for comparison in my opinion. The 1.0 TSI would have been more suitable, but as the price is similar I can see why they used it. 
 

I agree that the 2.0 is a better opponent - it would probably have won too!
