Very loud ticking noise

Hello, my engine has recently started making a very loud ticking sound and is becoming increasingly harder to start. My car is a 2000 Corolla with a 1.6 VVT-i engine 3zz fe engine code.

If the noise is more at start up , could be poor oil circulation, a can of oil flsuh and an oil change might help.

Yes, if it’s just on cold start can be the oil, too thick or too thin, or perhaps the lifters re worn or need adjustment if they can be adjusted, if not and they are hydraulic then engine flush and new oil to the spec may help a lot.

Thanks for the replys, i just changed my oil last week 5w30 I change it every six months or 3000 miles. The tapping is only happening when the car is warmed up. Which makes me think its the valves that need to be adjusted if so whats the cost of valve ajustment job ? Thanks
