HIDs not working properl, will LED work?

Hi guys,
My friend recently purchased the wrong set of HID for his car. I bought the them as they were 9007 55W Kit. I shaved bit of plastic of them as theres less plastic on 9012 bulbs just to make it fit properly. Installed, looking nice but thru out the night there's barely any high beam and in fairness there's around 40% less light output then stock 9012 HIR2 halogen bulbs. When I had the bulb running on, I moved it out a bit from the socket and i could see way more light begin pushed out. So it looks like the light source was way too far in inside the housing.

My question is, if I buy Philips LedExtreme HIR2 bulbs, will the work properly? Did any1 tried LED inside? HID's clearly don't work.
