I used OSRAM Original many times. On average they last 10 months. A while ago I heard that some Toyota owners were successful in getting the headlamps replaced for an updated model after complaint. But I missed that as mine is out of warranty now.

Now, I installed Philips LongerLife 9012LLC1 (I think they were stock on mine). Seems to last longer and are cheaper than OSRAM.

Do not expect much of improvement just by getting new bulb. Those headlights design is just terrible.

Do not get LED bulbs as the headlamp were designed for HIR2 (90012) 55W halogen  bulb.

You might be lucky if you get your car serviced at Toyota and under 10 years old and 100k miles you get enhanced warranty 

 

I got Auris and Aygo Complete headlights replaced under warranty

Can someone help me understand what exactly is the issue with the headlamps - that more and more people seem to be bringing this up.

The headlights from 2013 onwards are awful poor design and come across as dim

Toyota admitted this but only if you complained to Toyota and they offered an in house warranty upgrade to new headlights (I have posted before about this).  There was a service release bulletin covering this.

This makes a difference but design is still poor ? - but it did work for me especially  with new bulbs (new thread again on this)

Good for you. I heard that they offered a bit of an improvement.

I started to DIY mine before I found this bulletin so I missed the train.
