2019 Corolla Se engine didn’t turn off when key removed.

I turned off my car and removed my key.  Came back from the store and my car was running.  I opened up the door, turned the car off and sat there dumbfounded.    Started up fine and drove off.  Very weird.  Suggestions?

What is a Corolla SE ? Is it a Hybrid with the start button? Not a model we get over here so clarification needed.
