When I brought my car, first thing I noticed when going to work in the morning the lights were terrible, so read on here people were trying this and that different bulbs, still not impressed by what \ had brought. I ended up buying HID's best thing I have ever done for £68, people go on about if you have HID's it  will fail the MOT, well mine hasn't failed. don't waste money on bulbs. Buy HID's and never look back,

Hid wow 2010 is calling you mate

It's all about led now

It might be all about LEDs but they're just as illegal as HIDs in the UK.

I have an Aygo 2019 and on unlit roads the headlights are terrible,  I can't see a thing and the full beam isn't much better.  I can't see any road markings and it's nearly pitch black.  I took it back to the dealership and after testing the lights they said there was nothing wrong with the lights.  I was agasp. This must be surly dangerous?  I have never had any problems driving country lanes at night but now I do. I hate my car because of this. I've only had it a year.

Stick some Nightbreakers in.

Best you can do without going hids or leds which is technically illegal (no judgement I've done it myself)

I did put hids in the dipped lights of my 2008 C220 and they passed an mot.

The recent MOT rules regarding Headlight is:

If the headlights were designed for Halogen, it will needs halogen.  Any other bulb such as LED or HID SHOULD FAIL MOT.

So strictly speaking, even though Aygo MK2 uses Projector lenses, it should fail MOT with LED / HID.  However, some MOT station might slip through when the saw a projector lenses.

Only for that reason I bought C1 MK2. bulbs are standard H7 ( low + high beam ) and you can play with it.

H1R2 can also be played with.  In my 2015 Toyota Aygo, I've replaced the H1R2 (9012) bulb with LED.  So far:

  • High beam and Low beam works as normal.
  • With the Projector lenses, it "may" pass MOT.  (However, I will still change it back to Halogen the day before MOT.)
  • The beam did appear to bit a little higher.  No big deal, change the headlight adjustment from 0 to 1 fixed it.

Those lights with halogen bulbs filaments that uses one bulb for both deeped and high beam and are different from H4 standard are so poor , dangerous and should be illegal. Every single Toyota fitted with these is absolute disaster at night including the brand new Yaris, Yaris cross icon specs.
Period. No upgrades , no drama. Full headlights replace or replace the car for higher spec equipped with led. Or h11 h7 lights .

I disagree. The std HIR2 maybe but with the upgrade Optiwhites are fine - until they fail & you are left with no output from that light. I always carry a spare.
