Celica Facia Hole & New Stereo/mp3 Player

Hi folks,

Being new to celicas and this foram I'm very impresssed with the amount of knowledge available.

Anyway, I've removed the existing standard radio cassette out of my 1995 2.0 GT and bought a sony mp3 player and a pocket to go into the hole that remains.

My problem is that the square hole in the facia is too small on the width to allow the stereo and pocket to pass through from the back enough to snap on the front trim pieces. (I mean the trim that locates the click on/off front control panel)

I believe my only option is to start trimming off the plastic to widen the hole to the actual din width. (I assume the toyota stereo is actually din width but sits behind the facia)

I haven't found any other topics about this so I figure I'm may be doing something wrong.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Yeah sounds about right. Was your standard r/c double din?

I had to do the same with my Gen5.

Only had to trim a little off tho. So gently does it.

Good luck.

Thanks for that mate,

The r/c that came out was a single with a Toyota blanking panel above it.
