Strange sound driving me insane

So Far so good guys, need to adjust clutch slightly so it bites lower, but all seems okay, fingers crossed it stays this way!

The only issue i noticed, minor for now, is when selecting gear and bringing up my clutch, I hear a very shallow..."clunk" sound...almost as if something metal is hitting something metal...difficult to describe really, but annoying but I can live with it.

I get that "clunk" too. It used to bug me but I've got used to it. 🙂

Whats causing it though?

I learnt something new today re it 

It only clunk's when the engine is running!!!

The quicker you lift your foot off the clutch..clunk!!!! Loud

Do it slowly...and it clunk's softer!

Could it be the fork inside the gearbox?

Or is it something else linked to the clutch system?

Its very metallic and deep in sound. Ill try to video it tomorrow.

Hi Guys...

To update, im happy, touch wood i remain happy, the gearbox has been replaced and all seems perfect, yesterday I replaced my rocker cover gasket due to a slight leak, I replaced my drop links, and my anti roll bar bushes due to being in poor condition. The car drives and feels like new. Its amazing! 

I hope and pray that the next time its on axles will be for its yearly service which will be in September!

Mine has the exact same sound when letting out the clutch - I took it to Toyota and they verified it’s completely normal. I forgot the exact reason, but I imagine it has to do with it being a cable operated clutch.

Here too. Was a bit worried when I bought the car at 22k miles, that it might have a potential clutch problem. Now at 45k miles and I've learnt to live with the clunk.
