Fuel filter location

I have a 1.4 diesel d-4d Yaris, T3, 2006 model and the yellow warning light for fuel filter popped up I’ve been trying to find info on where to find the fuel filter but have gotten mixed answers, is it an in tank filter or can I find it under the hood?

Usually just behind the washer bottle on the driver side.

It's on the right-hand side in front of the suspension tower (as you open the bonnet) - yellow light it usually means the water needs draining from the valve on the bottom of the filter and/or the filter needs changing

A 2006 Yaris will be a MK2 not a MK1 as pictured above and Toyota moved the filter, see:
