Is that a gen 7 celica you got yourself then ? I just traded my BM 323 in for a gen 7 190 loads more fun to drive but have my doubts about build quality though ! Having said that though every time I hit 6000 rpm I stop thinking about the build quailty and start laughing my head off its a crazy engine!

Not saying its the worst build quality in the world but you cant compare it to beemers and mercs ! For example the plastics used inside that chip and scratch so easily. Then theres the rusty hubs, bubbled paint on wheels and window seals to name a few other issues.Cant knock the dealers though they have put right some of the problems I have had.

But at the end of the day if I wanted another boring car I would have bought another 3 series I bought the celica because it was enjoyable to drive rattles cheap plastic and all !

ahhh i see , having looked at my dads gen7 , i know what you mean about the interior.my old 1995 gt celica has like a canvas type dash( fake leather ) same on the doors and is much better.personally i dont like the gen 7 one bit .and that toyota sold out the designs to hyundai by the looks of their new coupe's

ok so my 1st mod, to whip out the double din stereo and stick my single din stereo in, i know ill need an adaptor will one from any other toyota fit? also how do i get the stereo out, havent really had a look yet.

Also I have already purchased a set of leather interior its off the same model. Has airbags tho, apart from taking the Battery off is their anything i should be aware of when swapping these seats - dont really want to start it up and explode the airbags!!

For info on fitting your stereo I would check out tthe modification section on this web site www.celica-club.co.uk there is a complete guide on how to do it.

I would try ringing toyota or asking someone on this website about your seats because as you say could be risk and you dont wont to make a mess of that new motor you got! Hope this helps

Maleborn 1967:-

As for the shape of the gen 7 I guess its a personal choice I love it which goes with out saying or I wouldnt have bought one would i but it is a very different shape to the older celicas which is why maybe not as well liked by some!

One thing I do agree with you on is that dash you mentioned my friend has that style in his MR2 turbo and it is much better and more hard wearing than mine makes you wonder why toyota used it really dont it ?

its not the shape i dont like ,its the whole car inside and out , same as the new mr2 also , they just arnt the same toyotas as yesteryear ,far too plasticy now, they dont stand out on the roads like the old ones did,and simply just dont have any appeal to me , im not knocking any one who buys them ,its a matter of choice,i'm sure they are a god damn mighty fine motor to drive. - im waiting for the anniversary gt4 to arrive , if they ever go ahead with it. :group-cuddles:
