I saw the West Midlands Police suggestion of marking too.  I am not sure how effective it would be or who it would help.  Someone hacking off your converter and flogging it will surely not be worried by is being marker.  It is quire different from marking precious possessions.  Who wants a hacked CAT back?

As it might help the police to cross reference theft location and where it is discovered perhaps the police should get dealers to mark and register CATS when they sell or next service the car.
