Issue resolved. The guy re connected the sos speaker and stuck it elsewhere. They tried flashing the system and resetting it but the sos went green for a second then went back to red. Thanks for your help mate.

Now I need to figure a way out to get the right speaker grill vent more sound out as theres no sos speaker on there so the grill holes are smaller. Hard to explain lol.

I hope the guy secured it properly otherwise you'll hear it rattle against the dashboard (many) parts.

I knew they couldn't fool the system: it's a safety system on a Toyota!

I understand what you say about the speaker grill: your driver side has less holes than the passenger side because, on driver side you just had the tiny tweeter and, on the other, you had the tweeter+SOS vent. An easy way to do it is to use a drill bit (1 to 2mm, you'll have to check which size enables you to make a hole without touching the diamond shaped grid) and increase the area. I recommend to use a cordless drill/driver with variable speed.

It's not in there with screws but it aint going nowhere. And yes you are exactly right about the speaker grills. Maybe I should buy a spare and try what you mentioned.

Made small holes in grill. Will check tomorrow if they work. Won't be recognisable once on car.

Trying to change mine as the dash speakers are distorting. Any recommendations? My stock speakers are larger than the ones above. It's a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hybrid Hatchback Design. Everything is stock/OEM apart from under seat subwoofers. I've attached a photo of the current speakers on the dashboard. TIA.

Hi. Yes all working fine. I had a under seat amp and sub (all in one) added to original Toyota setup couple of years ago. Adds a well needed bass boost. It's fitted underneath passenger side seat at the front. I don't have any diagrams etc as it was installed by the shops.

Here are the speaker wire colours/positions from my 2022 plate with the new head unit.

I didn't want to cut into the factory harness so got a small jumper from Amazon.com (America).

I added in the Kicker Key 200.4 amp combined with the Focal IS165TOY front and Focal IC165TOY rear Speakers. The built in dsp of the amp sounds amazing once you go through the auto tuning process with the plug in microphone!

Only thing left for me to do is add some sound deadening to the doors to tighten up the mids, and some to the rest of the car to dampen down the road noise a little.

I'm as well extremely disappointed with the OM Speakers and planning to upgrade them, but I do not have the mood or the will to invest in anything that isn't plug and play...

Thanks for all the ideas published!

I've seen some people replacing the OEM speakers for some aftermarket ones and swearing for the results. Something with good frequency response and high sensitivity will do the job, or am I wrong?

As far as I could research, the base (non-JBL) system is composed by the Head Unit, 1 small tweeter on the driver's side dashboard, 1 tweeter + 1 midrange on the opposite side of the dashboard and one 6,5" woofer on each door.

I have a 2022 corolla cross LE without the JBL system  I can't hear anything why I set to rear fader.  Are there wires in the door to put Speakers on?   Do I have the 3 Speakers in the front and are they upgradable.   I feel like I got half a car stereo. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the late answer, but here they are (rear door but is very similar):IMG_20210622_172942.thumb.jpg.0054352392868927364d39d1802f2e67.jpgIMG_20210624_194555.thumb.jpg.ada578697c056b4b1f75054de78962f0.jpgIMG_20210624_194542.thumb.jpg.143b08f9ba27663633b9b44b2e970c72.jpgIMG_20210624_194535.thumb.jpg.9c156fef78aa3b96dc96eb7de18c3a13.jpgIMG_20210625_131627.thumb.jpg.46f916db2bcdb4ed8db92f015285a6e5.jpgIMG_20210624_194613.thumb.jpg.ba5ab0d4480d73bd1a2dad83b3c59d97.jpgIMG_20210613_180549.thumb.jpg.720c4f715c24cee6a0dcbcf0a55890f6.jpgIMG_20210625_131629.thumb.jpg.3cff120edf774b8048547508c2f1b1bc.jpg

The right speaker is totally independent from the SOS speaker (double checked with a multimeter, there's no electric connection, it's a parallel connection from the head unit).

I'm not shure about the Corolla Cross but you can open the door inside cover easily.

The transparent foil with black glue at the edge was there from Toyota factory?

Yes. On the rear doors. On the front doors it's a hard white plastic cover.

What speaker model did you purchase and where did you get the speaker adaptors for the corolla doors. How did you wire in the crossovers.

Speakers were Focal Polyglass PC165 and PS165. The front have separated tweeters. The adaptors were bought from AliExpress.

Wiring the crossovers is very straightforward as their box have the wiring diagram. I've decided to cut the original wires because I have no intention to ever remove the Speakers from the car.

If you need the colours I kept a drawing of everything.
