91' Celica Oil

Hey I just bought a 1991 toyota celica gt with a 2.2L motor. I am about to do an oil change and was wondering which oil I should use for best performance. Should it be full synthetic? non-synthetic? mixed? 10w-30? 5-w30? 0w-30? The car has about 174,xxx on it and runs like new. Thanks and your help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TOC. :D :D

A good quality 10w40 to SE,SF or SG Grade API will be plenty good enough provided you follow the manufacturers recomended oil change intervals. If you really want to pamper it then use a semi synth. If you`ve got money to burn then go for a fully synth. Not really neccesary on a Standard N/A motor.

I run my GT-4 (Altrac) on Mobil 1 and change it every 3000 miles.

I run my 1993 gti on Mobil 1 also, it gets changed every 6000 miles, it has had this done for last 11 years.

Local Kwik-fit centre does the oil & filter for £40................. not even worth getting the car ramps out for that!
