Steering wheel controls

Hello everybody!

This is my first post here. I own this "ugly duckling" for two weeks now and I love it.

Unfortunately after changing stereo (alpine single din) the steering wheel controls not working at all. I was advised by lady @ Connects2 to get the CTSTY00C stalk adapter but one of the connectors it doesn't fit the original one with two cables: pink and blue. My original unit was: Matsushita Electric Industrial, model No: 86120-52260, Ref. No: CQ-MS0270A

I also took out the display unit but there is only one 18-pin connector there. Can anybody help how to get it work or do I need different adaptor for steering wheel controls?

The steering wheel controls go through the top display it may require a bit of wiring to get it to work

i helped another member out after a bit of figuring it out between us

i will see if i can find it

On the display you should have an 18 pin and an 8 pin a pic and/or part number off your display would help

i take it the controls worked before (left hand side behind the wheel) ?

The audio controls look like this..............

There should be an 8 pin connector for the display it may have dropped down

2002 onwards NCP10 and 13

They are resistive base controls NOT AVC-Lan

The correct pinout (8 pin plug) is 6 (Black), 7 (Red) and 8 (white) (factory colours) the wires go to the clock spring  it comes out of the clock spring in a blue 6 pin plug and then into a 4 pin plug on the back of the switch

Its not documented very well but colours may change

iirc connects2 use black (GND), Pink (SW1) And Blue (SW2) -

Pin 6 is ground - connects2 - black

Do not plug this 8 pin back into the display

The problem is that no connector was hooked to the unit, there is none 😕

I'm just looking at it, and there is only one 18-pin plug there... strange

I have double checked the pinout and wiring for the radio and display and both point to the 8 pin

you may have the bus type controls, tbh i did think that used them after 2002 - do you have a multi meter  ?

I have looked up more info and cross-referenced part numbers, unfortunately the Audio controls in the Yaris Verso are AVC-Lan (same as the E12 corolla) that is why you dont have the 8 pin connector, you have 2 options swap the audio controls from a p10 yaris - or mod the existing controls what need a custom PCB that no one makes any more

You then need to trace the wiring from the switch - connector (blue plug) - Clock spring - cut or splice 3 wires back to the connects2 adapter

Yaris Verso AVC-LAN controls - 86230-13010

Yaris P10 controls - 84247-0D010 (make sure it comes with is patch lead)

They are both resistance based switches but work at very different resistance values - i have more info if required

to clarify this is my controls part? however the Yaris P10 controls - 84247-0D010 is different shape/size. Am I wrong?

They look identical except the Yaris one has 5 buttons vs 6 of the verso - the steering wheel should be the same as a Yaris (i can check that later today)

Behind the main display is a big plug that branches off to a 3 pin plug.
You need to chop that connector off, then do the same to the left over connector on the connects2 module and join the wires as follow.

In some cases the colours are different eg. blue, black and
pink on the Connects2 harness and black, red and green on the car side. I connected black to
black, blue to red and pink to green.

The yaris verso uses avc-lan audio controls the same as the corolla, the P10 yaris uses standard resistor based controls

Avc-Lan use a resistive based controls (different resistance values) and it has a 2 termination resistors as well for the serial bus

Exactly. However thanks to the member of this forum niksta I have now working SWC with desired function of aftermarket HU in my Yaris Verso (face-lift).

Nick is a trustworthy gentleman with proper knowledge on the topic and I highly recommend him. Thanks again!

Yes and it's flexible with mods to assign other functions.
