FM radio text

Hi - 

I purchased the 2021 Urban cruiser last month and noticed that the FM stations do not show radio text information. I am aware that not all fm stations transmit fm text. 

Any other Urban cruiser owners noticed this? 

I reside in South Africa.

uk model ? Where are you from ? In the UK radio text is better know as RDS all the major stations use it

it also depends on the year and what radio it has fitted

Hi Sir

I am from south africa. It has i believe, the Harman Kardon infotainment system. There is no on/off option anywhere in the settings. Yes, we also know it as RDS.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser currently sold in South Africa, is a rebadged Suzuki Vitara, and isn't available in Europe (Toyota Owners Club is UK based). Presumably the audio system may also be a Suzuki unit.

I do not recognize the radio as it's a new car iirc they are only sold in India and South Africa, its a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

a quick google it looks like a Suzuki Smartplay radio

Good day Sir, I've bought the Suzuki Vitara Brezza this week. It's got the same Infotainment system as yours.
Did you get a way to activate RDS?

Hi

I took my brezza in for it's first service and asked about any software updates to enable the RDS. I was told that there is none and the RDS functionality is not available.

A bit dissapointing, but it seems that the Maruti Suzuki infotainment system software which includes RDS is only for digital broadcasting areas.

Not sure if the Indian market has RDS enabled - RDS is dependent on the radio station transmitting the data (FM only)

looking at the SLDA European manual, the setting are under radio options -

“Alternative Frequency” and “Regional Mode”

So it looks like there is a difference in firmware depending on the market
