Hi all,

I have a carina 2.0 td 1997/98 R reg

Whilst changing my cambelt the mechanic has noticed the power steering pump pulley has a piece broken off and the woodruff key is missing

Toyota can't get a new pulley till the end of the month and its expensive!

Does anyone know if someone is breaking a carina td?? Or of a pulley and possibly pump

I can see lots for the 20td they used in the early avensis, same engine 2ct but they pump is a different design. Does anyone know if I could use that unit instead as they are easily available on eBay

Thanks

Bob

That's really useful thanks Flash

It looks like the pulley on the 2.0td avensis will work as well but the power steering pumps on sale on eBay for the avensis look different?

Can you do me a favour and see if they changed pump design between the two cars but on the same 2ct engine, I cant see why they would have

Thanks

Bob

The pulley is the same, the pump is specific to the Avensis

As an update. My mechanic managed to weld the broken pulley and I ordered a replacement woodruff key from Toyota (very expensive for what it actually is!) and it's working fine so far.
