Map updates - Windows only?

I was checking what was required to update the Nav. on my car and it mentioned FAT 32 files on Windows. As I only have Apple Macs that is not a lot of use to me.

In fairness I seldom use navigation but thought about updating it whilst there was no charge assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you can update FOC whilst it is less than 3 years old.

Any advice - not on the efficacy of the nav. system - but the practicalities of updating whilst not having a Windows PC.

Cheers

Can you not update directly using wifi?

Yes, free for first 3 years.  Still waiting for a 2021 update.

Your mac can read/write/format FAT32 File systems to USB drives, also boot camp a d various other virtual options exist.

Format no bigger than a 16gb partition formatted fat32 in disk manager

extract Zip to root

Some systems don't like the way Apple implements Fat32, 16gb or less, QNX can be funny like that

I agree that not all systems like the Mac OS formatting.  One way around this is to buy a low cost USB stick which is always formatted, unless you have access to a Windows based machine or a friend who will format it for you.

Lol Fat32 is an open disk format. There is no difference.
no problems with map updates for 5 years. See my previous comment about partition size.

Agree Fat 32 is an open format but I’ve had issues over the years of Mac ownership especially with various manufacturers cars and map updates for some reason. All the USB’s I’ve used are 16Gb as some of the updates have been big.  It’s just my own experience, luckily as I also still have access to a Windows PC the problem was easily sorted.

Same here but the other way around, Mainly a PC, but have supported mac's from the II LC onwards - QNX has its quirks too
