Trip Computer Resets Itself

this is annoying and weird. it only happens when i park the car on a slope. when i restart the engine and roll off the drive the trip computer resets itself, like when you refuel.

i reverse onto my drive at home so it doesnt normally happen but rarely the missus drives straight on so obviously i had to reverse off and again the computer resets.

at all other times it is pretty accurate (i have checked the consumption when i have refuelled) so i feel the electronic bits are working could it be the sensor is sticking, or something, fooling the car into thinking it has filled up.

i took it to the garage last time it happened but they could find anything

any ideas are appreciated
