Hi,

I have a 1999 Corolla hatchback 1600 5 speed manual great car that goes well, but have noticed that the accelerator pedal sticks when I first start it, meaning I can’t rev it up as it just idles. Once I floor the pedal it does free up until you stop again, does anyone know what is causing this.

 Thanks

Do you have a drivers side mat - is this fixed in place or can it move forwards and interfere with the pedals?

Could be a sticky pedal as Frosty mentions, but possibly the cable itself as they can fray or simply seize up,  or the carb butterfy mechanism needs a bit of cleaning / lubrication.

Best if you disconnect the cable at the carb end , then you can 'feel' everything on its own.
