Pleasently surprised

Having owned my Auris for about 15 months, mostly for short trips of less than 10 local miles, getting an average of 40MPG.  Sadly I had to shoot cross country to a family funeral, about 140 miles each way.  M56, M60 & M62 from North Wales to East Yorkshire doing 70 where I could, car returned 67.6 MPG indicated.  Coming back, as in no hurry, cruised at 60.  MPG returned was 74.8 indicated.  Given that the computer is probably a bit over optimistic, I guess it did around 60 and 70 mpg. but non the less, I'm pretty please with that.  I'll brim it and see what it really did.

That’s a good fuel consumption, all cars with internal combustion engines like long trips where Battery powered vehicles doesn’t. 👍

It is a hybrid, that's why I'm so surprised.

Trev, I reckon the true mpg for your run to Yorkshire will be closer to 64 and 71 respectively. That’s really good considering you gone over the Pennines. I got used to not being surprised with my Prius, I bought it with 20500 miles on June 2018 from a dealer in Solihull, 100 miles away. On the way back to Chester it did just over 91mpg. A year later June 2019 I did a 50 mile journey from Telford to Chester and it recorded just over 96mpg. What was common on both journeys was the air temperature, bot hot June days.you probably know air temperature can really affect a hybrid performance, do that journey to East Yorkshire on a cold winter day and you will get up to 10 mpg less I reckon. Enjoy your hybrid.

Brim to brim average has worked out at 60.53 mpg for 280 motorway miles plus running around of 40 miles.  Pretty pleased with that.👍

I’ve just been out for a run to a coffee shop for Fathers Day lunch. Got great MPG. Just under 80mpg. Air temp 13C and drizzling here in Derby.
